Caorle

Brussa and Vallevecchia by bike

There is a place where land and water play tag.

Start from the historic silence of Ca’ Corniani, ride through the endless rows of reclaimed land and let the ferry crossing cradle you towards wild Vallevecchia. Here time is measured in pedal strokes, and the wind rustling through the reeds is the only playlist you need. Beauty is just around the corner—you only need a bike.

A cycling journey through unique landscapes, lagoons and reclaimed lands, discovering Brussa and Vallevecchia, two natural gems of Eastern Veneto. Starting from the charming village of Ca’ Corniani, this itinerary follows routes immersed in nature, with the special experience of crossing the lagoon by ferry, offering a day filled with history, traditions and biodiversity.

The tour begins in Ca’ Corniani, a historic agricultural estate near Caorle. Following the cycle path alongside cultivated fields, the route passes behind the power plant and reaches the Ponte delle Bilance, then continues towards Caorle, in the Falconera area.

At the boarding point, a short ferry crossing allows you to reach the other side of the lagoon. Here, the scent of salt air and the flight of birds welcome you. The ferry is not just a means of transport, but an integral part of the experience: the saying “Slow and steady wins the race” perfectly applies here.

Once ashore, the route continues towards Brussa, an area of exceptional beauty and rich biodiversity. The cycling paths wind through pine forests, dunes and wild beaches, ideal for a relaxing break or a picnic in the shade of maritime pines. A visit to the natural oasis is highly recommended, where you can observe herons, egrets and, with some luck, the marsh harrier.

Continuing towards Vallevecchia, you enter one of the most protected areas of the Adriatic coast. Here nature reigns supreme: canals, ponds and wetlands host a wide variety of flora and fauna. A stop at the Environmental Education Centre is recommended to learn more about this ecosystem and the local traditions linked to fishing and agriculture.

After exploring Vallevecchia, the cycle route leads back to Ca’ Corniani, completing a perfect loop for nature and cycling enthusiasts. Before setting off, remember to check the ferry timetable. This tour is suitable for everyone, including families, and offers genuine emotions that only the Veneto region can provide.

Bring a camera with you: the biodiversity along the route will reward you with unforgettable shots.
