Imagine getting lost among the colours and scents of the Venetian countryside, where every pedal stroke becomes a journey through time and beauty. The Ca’ Corniani Estate, just a short distance from Caorle, welcomes you with an immersive experience that blends nature, history and culture into a unique embrace.
Follow the paths that cross golden fields, orderly rows of crops and shimmering canals. Every bend reveals evocative views and unexpected encounters with contemporary artworks, designed to enhance the timeless atmosphere of this place. Three entrances, three artworks: statues of dogs and horses standing guard, a luminous inscription interacting with the sky, and a golden roof shining like a promise of wonder.
In 2017, with the launch of the Ca’ Corniani enhancement project, an international art competition was held and won by the Milan-based artist Alberto Garutti. His artworks welcome all those who wish to discover Ca’ Corniani.
The beating heart of the estate is the historic pumping station, a jewel of nineteenth-century engineering. Within its walls, which tell the story of the transformation from marshland to fertile farmland, you can feel the rhythm of history and the human ingenuity that made this achievement possible. First built in 1880, it represents an important example of nineteenth-century industrial architecture.
Here you can understand how the land reclamation system transformed wetlands into cultivated fields through an ingenious hydraulic network. The building can be reached via four different roads, all named “Macchina Fissa”, highlighting its importance. Located in the area known as Quattro Camini, it occupies a central position, collecting drainage water from all parts of the estate.
Do not miss the opportunity to visit the village of Ca’ Corniani, a place where time seems to stand still. Explore the old wine cellar, the fields of memory and the villa that preserves the stories of past owners, and let yourself be immersed in the authenticity of rural life.
To complete the experience, enjoy a glass of local wine in the historic cellar, surrounded by photographs that tell stories of people, land and passion. This architectural gem represents an innovative solution: since it could not be built underground due to the land being below sea level, a system of chimneys was installed to capture fresh breezes and recreate the ideal microclimate for wine production.
An experience that is not just a visit, but a true immersion into the soul of the Venetian countryside.
